Greece's government acted extremely quickly in containing the COVID-19 outbreak. As of 16 June 2020, there have been 3,148 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 185 deaths. The country was locked down until May, but restrictions are now being lifted, sector by sector.
On 15th June, Athens and Thessaloniki airport opened for international flights, with no quarantine restrictions - EXCEPT FOR flights from high-risk areas, including the UK. It is understood that all arrivals from the UK will be subject to a test, and will need to quarantine for 7 (if negative test) or 14 (if positive test) days. Preveza airport (Aktio) is due to open from 1st July.
Lefkada has had just one confirmed case of COVID-19. After successful quarantine, it was confirmed that it had not spread any further. The island's hotels, cafes, bars, restaurants etc are working hard to prepare for a safe 2020 season, and all residents and businesses are taking the issue very seriously. Social distancing measures are in place.
The situation is changing rapidly. There was a total ban on movement for all vessels until recently, and while this has now been eased, there are restrictions on numbers allowed on board. The situation as of 15 June 2020, is that daily cruise boats are allowed to operate with approximately 60% capacity. There are also guidelines in place for maintaining social distancing, identifying potential cases before embarkation and during a cruise, and dealing with possible cases.
There will be some changes to our cruises this summer. We are expecting the season to start once Aktio opens, so from 1st July. There is likely to be an amendment to the restrictions also from 1st July, so we will post an update here, once it is confirmed.
We will strictly adhere to all the measures. The following are some of the measures likely to be in place:
We take this situation very seriously, and the safety of our guests and crew is our priority. The Captain and crew will take the utmost precaution to help you and your family have a safe and enjoyable day out at sea.
